It’s time again, time to winterize your sprinkler system for the winter.
Remember, leave it to the experts, the mere cost and risk of doing it yourself will cost you down the road. It is very important to use a high volume air compressor.
Some people will talk about “Drain valves” but these DO NOT work in the Northern Virginia area or Maryland.
You MUST use the air compressor and a high volume air compressor.
Next, you MUST shut off the main water supply line which is located in your house or near the street. The air compressor needs to be connected, after the shut off valve, otherwise you could create a lot of damage on your internal plumbing line which is extremely expensive.
We recommend removing the backflow prior to winterization. The hot dry air can cause serious damage to the inside components of the backflow and those babies are expensive.
Slowly begin the air compressor with the valve open to release the water from the system. DON’T leave on longer than two minutes because the dry air will start to overheat the pipes and cause them to become deform and lose their strength. Overtime, improper winterization can create weak points in your pipes and you might need to replace them which is also very expensive. Don’t be a penny wise and pound foolish. Hire a professional.
Upon completion of the winterization, you need to reattach the cap to the blowout connection and close all the valves.
Call us today and we will get you scheduled asap, don’t delay, it can be a very costly mistake.
