Ryan Muniz

Ryan began his career in the landscaping business at an early age while growing up in the Fairfax area.  His father was a teacher and coach for Fairfax County Schools and operated a landscape and lawn business during the summer which Ryan was a big part of. His mother recently retired from a lifetime of service in a career at the Northern Virginia Training Center dedicated to servicing the most physically and mentally challenged individuals.

After graduating from Chantilly High School in 1990, Ryan received a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from The University of Nevada Las Vegas.  He also worked for the men’s basketball team as a student manager. He also first learned irrigation while attending school in Las Vegas. Ryan installed his first irrigation system in 1994.

In July 1998 he married his wife Deirdre, “Didi”, a special education teacher for Clark County Schools at the time. He returned to Virginia in 2001 to start a business with best friend, Reed Libby.

Ryan is currently living in Fairfax and has three beautiful children, David who is 12 years old, Isabella who is 10, and PollyJo who is 8.

During his 14 year career in the irrigation field he has worked in all aspects of the business. He has worked as:

• Foreman
• Service technician,
• Service manager,
• Customer service.

Part of his success in managing a large company is that he has literally done each position and can easily relate to those who have filled his shoes.

He participates in yearly continual education seminars held by the top manufacturers and distributors of irrigation products in the field.  He has attended John Deer University and  classes at Hunter Industries and Rainbird Corporation. The seminars Ryan has attended include:

• Irrigation design
• Water conservation
• Backflow testing
• Wire tracing

He also has attended several landscape lighting courses on design and install held by Vista Lighting, Kichler Lighting, Cast and Unique lighting companies. He continually researches and tests the latest and greatest new products in the field.

During the 14 years as a co-owner of Affordable Lawn Sprinklers and Lighting, he has helped build a customer base of 4,000 residential homeowners as well as a working relationship with several Builders and Landscape companies. He has designed and built irrigation systems for a multitude of homeowner associations, commercial buildings, apartment complexes, churches.
